After some further investigation I found out, that the data is NOT corrupted, but in a way truncated in DAO mode: When I read out the image from the CD-RW drive, I am not an expert of iso image structure, but I would say yes. The original iso is about 5kb bigger than the image read after DAO burning.

Ensure a clean phone line, a machine that works and doesn't corrupt bits in memory or on disk, and that you download in binary mode, not ascii mode. This looks kind of strange to me unless the install cd is using somekind of special 'solaris' image within the iso-image. Has anybody had the same problem before ? Just use cdrecord (assuming you are doing this from Linux) cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=3,0 /local/cdrom-image/image.raw ^ ^^ ^^^^ name of image file | |_ Scsi device |_ speed of burner. Of course it is possible you forgot to specify binary when you ftp downloaded the file, and it is now totally corrupted.

I have Roxio Easy Media Creator and it does not recognize it as an "image" file. Anyway, I like that idea of yours. I think if I can get that to work I can simply replace the files that are corrupted (or missing) and get this issue resolved. Normally, you select an option called "create CD from image file," "use ISO image," or something similar, then point it to the file on disk. You may have a corrupt download.
